If a spontaneous jaunt cross country tickles your fancy, or an unscheduled change of plans leaves you with a few open days in your holiday calendar, consider one of these magical destinations. Your American Coach is the perfect sleigh to guide you on your merry way to destinations full of holiday spirit. Here’s the places we’ve found.

Andalusia, Alabama
Here in Southern Alabama, Candyland transforms from the board game and becomes a magical month-long holiday event, held by the town of Andalusia. You can enjoy the Snow Show, take photos with Santa, hop on the holiday train and enjoy a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming
There’s little disputing Jackson Hole is simply breathtaking all year round, but especially during the holidays. The city’s decorations and Christmas celebrations light up the night every year and a horse-drawn sleigh ride will have you hearing the song Sleigh Ride the “Hole” way!

Santa Claus, Indiana
Ok, obvious town name aside, this place goes over the top when it comes to Christmas celebration. That’s why it’s nicknamed “America’s Christmas Hometown.” During its three-week-long festivities, features include a Christmas-themed firework display and a drive-through light show, aptly titled Santa Claus Land of Lights.

Keeping up appearances: tips for protecting and enhancing the exterior of your American Coach.
The high-tech automotive finishes and other advanced materials that coat the outside of your American Coach are designed to provide years of long-lasting beauty and protection. As a result of these advancements, your coach requires much less surface care than before. But, to aid in your efforts to maximize and protect that beauty you have now, here’s a few pointers to ponder in winter.

The front cap is the “business end” of your coach when it comes to exposure to the road, and as such, takes most of the brunt of debris, either on the road, in the air or kicked up by other vehicles. If your coach has a winter front-end protector, be sure you’re using it, even when the roads are dry. Roads that are treated for ice are sanded or treated with calcium chloride, which is highly abrasive. Make sure the cover fits securely at every attachment point too, as a loose fastener can wreak havoc if allowed to flap in the wind.

Another key tip is to make sure all compartment doors and hinged areas are cleared of ice before attempting to open them, as forcing a door open can damage it. This is especially true of basement cargo doors that may be covered in icy slush picked up from the road in your travel. And speaking of appearance, making sure your headlights and taillights are clean and cleared of snow, ice and salt stains at every fuel stop is a must. You’ll likely be using plenty of washer fluid as well and poor driving conditions are no place to discover you’re out, so keep your washer tank topped off, too.

And the best way to protect your coach’s beautiful finish is with a coating of protective wax. Today’s products will beautify your finish and repel snow, ice and dirt and help guard against surface scratches. Here’s to a lifetime of beauty!

The Magnificent Mixer: Warm spiced Montenegro, orange and soaked prunes.
Ok, it sounds a little bland at first, but trust us, this one’s a keeper. In fact, this may be one of the best ways to take the edge off winter’s chill! And, the best part is, it’s easy to make, (It just takes some time to marinate), so let’s get started!

What’s in it:

• 2 cups (500ml) Amaro Montenegro liqueur
• 4 cloves
• 1 each star anise & cinnamon quill
• 12 prunes, stones (pits) removed
• Zest of 1 orange

How to make it:

Place ingredients in small saucepan over high heat, cover with lid and bring to just below boil. Remove from heat, cover and set aside to infuse for 2-3 hours, longer if possible.

Next, place the saucepan back on low heat and warm the infused liquid. Divide prunes, orange zest and liqueur among small balloon glasses and serve.

After you’ve parked for the night, this sophisticated cocktail will warm your cockles and give your nightcap a distinguished finish!
